The concept of 'tinker labs' has made NITI Aayog and the Indian subsidiary of US technology company Intel join hands. On Tuesday, the two signed a Statement of Intent to create 10 laboratories to foster young minds in adaptive learning, physical computing and developing a design mindset among students. Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL) will be set up to build relevant skill-set among youngsters and to provide access to technology to help create solutions for social impact, Intel said. It added that it plans to set up 500 ATLs by March next year. The company said these labs intend to impact 2.50 lakh youth innovation skills and skills for the future across 500 communities and schools, and it will invest $15 million in building and managing these 500 ATLs. These ATLs will include fab labs in schools and communities around the country, for children between the ages of 12 and 18 years.
