New Delhi (22.06.2026): Garden Reach Shipbuilders &
Engineers Limited (GRSE) has become the 29th Central Public Sector Enterprise
(CPSE) to be granted Navratna status which was approved by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Finance. The upgradation of GRSE to Navratna status was approved on
June 19, 2026, recognizing company’s strong financial performance,
operational excellence, and strategic importance in India’s defence
manufacturing ecosystem. The elevation places GRSE among an elite group of 29
Navratna CPSEs that enjoy enhanced financial and operational autonomy. The
status empowers the company to undertake larger investments, establish joint
ventures, enter strategic alliances, and execute expansion plans with greater
flexibility and faster decision-making. The recognition comes at a time when GRSE has demonstrated
remarkable growth in revenue and profitability while strengthening its position
as one of India’s leading defence shipbuilders. The company has played a
crucial role in supporting the Indian Navy’s modernization efforts and
advancing the Government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence production. Over the years, GRSE has built more than 800 maritime
platforms, delivered 118 warships to the Indian armed forces, and expanded its
global footprint through export orders, including the construction of
