New Delhi (23.06.2026): Curtains have finally gone up on a month-long wave of market and bureaucratic speculation. The Ministry of Railways has formally approved the exit of Sanjay Kumar Jain (IRTS) as CMD of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Reportedly, he will be relieved from his current responsibility upon the completion of his mandatory notice period i.e. 20.07.2026. He was scheduled to superannuate on 31.12.2026.

Adhering to standard corporate code, Jain has cited "personal reasons" for his sudden departure from public sector service six months ahead of retirement. It may be underlined that IRCTC, achieved a major corporate milestone (March 2025) getting elevated from Miniratna to Navratna status, alongside an upgrade from a Schedule 'B' to a Schedule 'A' CPSE.
