New Delhi (20.06.2026): Setting aside the rumour of repatriation of Union Secretary for Electronics & IT S Krishnan (IAS: 1989: TN) and appointment as Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary, the State Government is expected to extend the services of Dr M Sai Kumar (IAS: 1990:TN). The incumbent CS is scheduled to superannuate on August 31 this year. In the event of the Union Government giving its consent, Dr Sai Kumar will be the second CS in recent times to get extension. It may be recalled that during the COVID outbreak in June 2020, the then Chief Secretary K Shanmugam (Retd IAS: 1985: TN) was given two successive extensions of three-month each beyond his retirement age.
