Chennai (17.06.2026): Shankar Jiwal (IPS: 1990: TN), former Director General of Police (DGP), resigned as chairman of the Tamil Nadu Fire Commission on June 17, 2026. Along with Jiwal, three members of the Tamil Nadu Fire Commission — Vikraman, Sathyamurthy and Namachivayam — also submitted their resignations. In a separate development, former DGP Sunil Kumar (IPS: 1988: TN) too resigned from his post as chairman of the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB). The officers had been appointed to their respective posts during the DMK government.
