Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that TS Tirumurthy (IFS:1985) may be appointed to the post of Secretary, Economic Relations in Ministry of External Affairs. The post has practically fallen vacant following the announcement of Vijay Keshav Gokhale (IFS:1981) as successor to S Jaishanker who's retiring 28th January. Presently, Tirumurthy is serving as the Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia. His previous diplomatic assignments include postings in Cairo, Permanent Mission of India in Geneva, Representative of India in Gaza, Washington D.C. and Deputy Chief of Mission in Jakarta. He has also served as Under Secretary (Bhutan), Director (Foreign Secretary's Office), Joint Secretary (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Maldives) and Joint Secretary (United Nations Economic and Social Council) during his stints at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
