Even though intelligence officials were not taken aback by the events during the political agitation against the Supreme Court ruling on SC/ST Atrocities Act, they were under pains to collect a lot of information and examine hundreds of thousands calls to make a clear picture about the leaders of the agitationists and their local, national, and international connections. Of course, it was part of their routine duty. It's a different matter whether the information collected may be useful for the political dispensation.
