The NHAI grapevine has it that the Chairman R P Singh has been at loggerheads with the ministry which wants to meet out PM's target of building thirty kilometers of highways every day. Unlike PSUs the NHAI is supposed to be the extension of the ministry but mutually conflicting views and work-approach has been breaking the pace, sources say. Reportedly, the ministry has taken up the removal of R P Singh with the PMO who was appointed as NHAI Chairman in June 2012 on contract basis for tenure of three years.
