Raipur (04.11.2025): The annual Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) conference is set to be held at IIM Nava Raipur campus from November 28 to 30, 2025. The three-day event will see the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, signalling the high-level focus on critical internal security matters.
Focus on LWE Elimination Deadline
The conference’s agenda is heavily weighted towards deliberating the strategy for the complete elimination of Left Wing Extremism (LWE), specifically Naxal violence. This comes as the Union Home Minister’s declared deadline of March 31, 2026, for eradicating Naxalism draws closer. With only five months remaining until this target, the Prime Minister and Home Minister are expected to take direct feedback from the DGPs and heads of central security agencies. The primary objective will be to refine and ensure the effectiveness of security operations in LWE-affected regions.
Chhattisgarh’s Strategic Importance
The choice of Raipur as the venue underscores the meeting’s significance for Chhattisgarh, where Naxal-affected areas continue to pose a substantial internal security challenge. Detailed discussions and planning are anticipated to address the persistent issues in the state.
Broader Internal Security Agenda
Beyond LWE, the conference will serve as a platform to strategise on a host of other critical internal security challenges. Key topics lined up for discussion include:
  • Modern Policing Methods: Exploring innovative and efficient policing techniques.
  • Technological Surveillance: Planning the enhanced use of technology, including technical surveillance, for effective law enforcement.
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Security: Addressing security challenges and opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence.
  • Inter-State Intelligence Sharing: Streamlining mechanisms for greater cooperation and intelligence exchange between state police forces.
The participation of DGPs and heads of central security agencies from across the nation will facilitate a comprehensive, integrated approach to the country's most pressing security concerns.
