Shah’s illness and his differences with Modi: More into the virtual world than real!

This is something that has been in the air for quite some time about the schism between PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the later suffering from some very critical ailment. Many tweets and news video clips did rounds in social media even in the last couple of days.

Shah on Saturday (May 9, 2020) released a statement saying that “rumors about his ill health are wrong.” He further stated that he was “completely healthy” and is not suffering from any disease.

Actually the recent tweet by one independent journalist and political activist Vijaylakshmi Nadar about Shah was not only in a bad taste but also surpassed every limit of journalistic ethics and civic decency when she tweeted wishing his illness to end conclusively and that is something she wants to celebrate. There were many cohorts to Nadar.

It goes on with PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah falling apart and Shah might be divested from Union Home ministry anytime the PM finds suitable. This speculation has been rife for long and even faces stepping into the shoes of Shah have been discussed in social media and by Youtubers who named from Nitin Gadkari to Ajit Doval to Yogi Adityanath to many other for the coveted post.

To put it in perspective, the entire media fraternity failed to get even inkling of the news that S Jaishankar will be inducted in the cabinet as an external affairs minister in Modi’s second term as PM. So when will cabinet reshuffle happen and who all will be the new ministers and if Shah will be replaced is known to only and only Modi. There should not be any confusion about it.

Now, one must understand that Modi-Shah stayed together in their thick and thin and the most important aspect of their long-lasting understanding has been that Shah never crossed Modi’s path and did that much only whatever was asked him to do. So differences emerging between them is nothing more than speculation and wishful thinking of Modi-Shah detractors who are checkmated by duo’s moves.

Though, there are certain arguments that endorse their differences like he became more popular after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A and passage of triple talaq bill in Parliament. Both the leaders were not on the same page as far as NRC is concerned and spoke in different voices on the issue. Moreover, the passage of CAA has brought to Shah in the league of Sardar Patel rather some say he will go down in the history books as the best home ministers the country ever had.

Hold on! Shah was made to stay at former Union finance minister Arun Jaitley’s Ashok Road residence on Modi’s intervention, he was made general secretary of the party with the blessings of Modi and brought to the government from the party as he knew that only he can execute his plans without any if and but and in toto with Rajnath Singh’s tenure proving to be a complete dud as Home Minister.

Amid all these talks, some activities are visible as generally, Shah avoids even informal interaction with media unless it is mandated, necessary, and asked by his high command (Modi). Ever since speculation about his ill health started doing round, his picture about meeting with Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh delegation was released in media and also he expressed his concern and grief about laborers behind mowed down by the goods train and now his statement.

He is working till late at night every day. So one caution that must be mentioned that sometimes eerie silence like this leads to some storm herein some political storm!

Communication deficiency defines Congress’ crisis?

Of late Politics in India has become a game of perception besides a few other things but any political establishment failing to understand this very fact is bound to fail in its objective. Perception comes with better communication skillsets.

Any political establishment has its own sets of strengths and weaknesses but the real skill of its leadership is to make propaganda of its strength and sidetrack its weakness. None of the political parties is an exception be it the BJP or the Congress or any regional party.

The most important case in the point here is PM Modi’s immense and untiring capability of striking chords with the masses of the country that becomes BJP’s strength eclipsing the party’s other weaknesses. On the other hand, lack of communication skills and strategy are Congress’ biggest deficiency that eclipses all its core strengths that the party has. It is also not true that the Congress has any dearth of such leaders but the issue is whom do you showcase.

India thinks, understands and communicates more eloquently in Hindi or in any other regional Indian languages or dialects. Masses are able to relate themselves with the BJP as Modi speaks Hindi in his Gujarati accent effortlessly and similarly most of its leaders do the same whereas most of the Congress leaders who are chosen to connect with the masses fail to strike chords with them rather their elitist appearance and disconnect with the ground driving masses away.

The BJP leadership appears to echo aspiration and sentiment of the ground whereas Congress’ leadership, even though they talk facts in an articulate manner fails to connect with the masses. Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka that most of the young budding leaders and back-room boys of the Congress carry the elitist paraphernalia around them making people hesitant to reach out to them and so their failure to connect with the masses is bound to happen.

Congress appears to have been taking less effort in firming up its communication strategy whereas the BJP puts in constant effort to keep its communication strategy strengthened be it on issues, individuals, timings and communication mediums, etc.

Lutyens' Delhi: Bureaucracy abuzz with a colleague's importance

By IndianMandarins 03 Feb 2020

It passed off unnoticed in Lutyens' Delhi. But more than a week after, its importance is dawning upon senior officials.

Despite who’s who of power corridor in Delhi attending a private function of a joint secretary-level officer that had failed to catch eyeballs of many in Lutyens but people in the power corridors are still whispering about the affair cautiously even a week has gone by.

'Mundan Sanskar' of the daughter of a Joint Secretary level IAS officer working in the Commerce Ministry has become a matter of discussion for many senior officials these days. What they appear to be astonished about is that there are over four hundred Joint Secretary level officers across all ministries and departments in the Govt of India but this seems to be something very unheard of that the top echelons of the country did not miss to attend the invitation.

So much so that the event was attended by President of India, Prime Minister of the country, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Commerce/Industry minister, Health/IT Minister, Chief of Defence Staff General Vipin Rawat, chief ministers of several states and dozens of former Union ministers (UPA)  and Union secretaries too attending the function but it went unnoticed in Lutyens' Delhi which keeps track of the fact even how many times PM clapped during the budget presentation.

Modi-Shah duo leaves mainstream media aghast yet again!

By IndianMandarins 23 Nov 2019

The Modi-Shah duo has yet again foxed not only its opponents but also the mainstream media whose lifeline is reporting political events. People wake up to read that the Maharashtra government may be formed anytime after November 24 with Shiv Sena chief Udhdhav Thackrey to lead the government as chief minister for full five year term but even before tea was served to many an old proverb proved to be correct that there is many a slip between the cup and the lip.

Indian mass media thrive on the very dictum of eat politics, drink politics and sleep politics but it miserably failed to foresee the most crucial political development of the country despite 60-70 per cent content offered in any mainstream media being political in nature. They even failed to make out of 45-minutes long meeting between the PM and NCP chief Sharad Pawar when the media witnessed many surprises of the BJP in the past.

It is understood that media failed to get any inkling about abrogation of Article 370, surgical strike and Balakote attack and even the nomination of President but it was really amusing that the formation of Maharashtra government broke just before the swearing in of Devendra Fadnavis which is an out and out political development. The PM tweeted a congratulatory message at 8.14 AM to Maharashtra CM and deputy putting the curtain down on over a fortnight long drama leaving everyone dumbstruck.

Crouching tigress’ hidden agenda: Didi meets PM

By IndianMandarins 19 Sep 2019

Creating narrative and ground reality are two equally important things and ‘Didi’ appears to understood it very well. At least meeting of the WB CM Mamta Banerjee with the PM Modi and agreeing to meet Amit Shah suggests so.

Mamata might have been able to address a section of her voters in West Bengal but constantly being at the loggerhead with the Centre did not produce any good to her.

In fact, Didi’s one of the dearest projects lying with the home ministry has been changing name of West Bengal to Bangla. On the other hand It is believed that the moment name change takes place memory of partition of Bengals fades away which Sangh Pariwar doesn’t endorse. This has apparently been the reason that Mamata needs to meet Shah which she might have agreed reluctantly.

But the issue on which Didi failed to get approval from a leader like Rajnath Singh, getting approval of Amit Shah will be an onerous task. Let’s see how long this bonhomie continues as Shah does not give any concession to opposition.

modi’s-mission-and-shah’s-action-earn-brand-equity

Modi’s mission and Shah’s action earn brand equity

By IndianMandarins 07 Sep 2019

After the abrogation of Article 370 & 35A, J&K is returning to normalcy. Connectivity is retrieved and restrictions are lifted. The Govt has claimed that not a single casualty has taken place over a period of 30 days.

The flawless execution of ‘Mission Kashmir’ has apparently become the brand equity of Union Home Minister Amit Shah -- the most trusted lieutenant of the PM Modi. The government sorted out several tough tasks be it demonetisation, triple talaq, surgical strike and smashing the special status of Kashmir.

Amid oppositions from within and outside, Modi-Shah has not only nullified its attack but alienated Pakistan with its exhaustive home work before executing its plan. They did not allow the matter to get leaked to anyone at the home front.

There has been a general practice that all party meeting is convened before taking such big decisions but whenever the matter is discussed at all party meeting it is mostly recommended to Parliamentary Standing Committee and always remains in Limbo forever of which women reservation bill is a testimony.

The government played emotional card, divided opposition on the issue of Nationalism, put security arrangements well in place, Valley was cleansed from terrorists. But the government appeared resolute even if it had to evacuate Amarnath pilgrims and tourists in Kashmir facing their ire.

It is not that things remained hunky dory for the duo. The issue of demonetisation is still debatable, GDP has gone down to 5 per cent, cleanliness mission of Ganga proved to be a damp squib, unemployment still haunts the country but Modi-Shah duo take everything to a logical conclusion come what may.

The government neither succumbed to the pressure of political parties nor civil society on any of the issues as mentioned above. Moreover, they are rather preparing road map for J&K to ensure smooth elections in the state. BJP’s organizational structure is working day in and day out to ensure a win. De-radicalisation is another plan on which the government is very serious about in its K plan.
