Ujjain’s divisional commissioner M B Oza and collector Manish Singh were transferred on Monday to the Secretariat in Bhopal as secretary and deputy secretary respectively. You know why. Because the new state CM Kamal Nath has held them responsible for not releasing water from the Narmada to the Kshipra river in Ujjain when devotees landed there for a ritual bath.

Local newspapers in MP had carried photographs of devotees, who had come to Ujjain to take a ritual bath in the Kshipra river, satisfying themselves with few drops from sprinkler pipes.

This made the CM order an inquiry by taking “serious note of the hindrance in devotees’ failure to undertake snaan (bath)” and asked the Chief Secretary to submit a report.
