Tamil Nadu: Major reshuffle effected, 4 cities get new police chiefs

In a major IPS reshuffle in Tamil Nadu, 39 senior police officers were transferred on Tuesday. While four cities got new police chiefs, fresh postings have also been given to two senior police officers, who were put on "compulsory wait" by the Madras HC on Tuesday for trying to create hurdles in investigations into the deaths of a father and son in Tuticorin amid allegations of torture by cops.

Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal was appointed as Chennai Commissioner. The outgoing CP A K Viswanathan was made ADG, Police-Operations (Chennai).

Prem Anand Sinha was drafted as  CP, Madurai who earlier worked Additional CP, Law and Order, South Chennai. The outgoing Commissioner S Davidson Devasirvatham would be ADG, Technical Services in Chennai.

Dr Loganathan was appointed as CP, Trichy and G Karthikeyan as the police chief of Tiruppur city.

Assistant SP D Kumar was made posted as the Prohibition Enforcement Wing.

C Prathaban was moved to the "anti-land grabbing special cell". D Kumar and Prathaban had appeared before the court on Tuesday.

The Madras High Court was told on Tuesday by a magistrate that they tried to derail his inquiry into the custodial deaths of Jeyaraj and his son Beniks in Santhankulam, Tuticorin, which has triggered widespread outrage. The victims were arrested in Tuticorin on June 19 for keeping their mobile phone shop open 15 minutes beyond curfew. After Jeyaraj was taken away by the police, his son, who reached the police station, was also arrested. The two were allegedly beaten and tortured and suffered wounds so severe that they died on June 22, within hours of each other.

Over a dozen of IPS officers take over new assignment in Meghalaya

The Meghalaya government has transferred over a dozen of IPS officers that included Bikram B Marak (IPS:2004), SP (Traffic), Shillong being transferred to West Jaintia Hills district as SP while Anti-Infiltration SP, Vivek Syiem (IPS:2004), has been transferred as SP (City), Shillong. West Jaintia Hills district SP Lakador Syiem (IPS:2004) will take charge as the Anti-Infiltration.

East Garo Hills district SP Ringrang T G Momin (IPS:2004) will take charge as Anti-infiltration SP in place of Lamare. Economic Offences Wing (EOW) SP H G Lyngdoh (IPS:2004) was transferred and posted as the West Khasi Hills District SP in place of B J Laloo (IPS: 2004) who will take charge as the second-in-command of SF-10 in Shillong. SP (VIS), Billy Graham Marak (IPS: 2004) was transferred and posted as the commandant of the 5th MLP Battalion in Samgong.

Crime Investigation Department (CID) SP Aditya Goenka (IPS:2008) will take charge as the SP of the Fire and Emergency Services in place of Jubi G Momin (IPS:2011), who was transferred and posted as the commandant of the 6th MLP Battalion in Umran. East Jaintia Hills district SP Vivekanand Singh (IPS:2012) will replace Goenka as the CID SP.

Darwin M Sangma (IPS:1996) has been posted as chief security officer of the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (MePDCL). East Khasi Hills district Superintendent of Police (SP) Claudia Lyngwa (IPS:2010) has been transferred and posted as the commandant of the 1st MLP Battalion at Mawiong while Anti- infiltration SP Sylvester Nongtnger (IPS:2012) will take charge as the district SP. Deepak Kumar Palecha (IPS:2015), deputy commandant of the 4th MLP Battalion, will take over as East Jaintia Hills district SP.

UP administration transfers nine IPS officers

The Uttar Pradesh government on June 16 transferred some IPS officers in a major reshuffle. SSP Saharanpur Dinesh Kumar P (IPS:2009) will be the new SSP of Kanpur. SP Shahjahanpur S Channappa (IPS:2009) has been posted as the SSP of Saharanpur. SP Unnao Vikrant Veer (IPS:2014) has been made the SP of Hathras replacing Gaurav Bansal (IPS:2014), who has been posted as SP Crime in Lucknow.

 

L R Kumar (IPS:2006) has been transferred as DIG vigilance of Lucknow. Abhishek Dixit (IPS:2006) SP Pilibhit is the new SSP of Prayagraj. Rohan P Kanay (IPS:2009) has been made the new SP of Unnao. Pratap Gopendra Yadav (IPS:2012), who was posted as SP Baghpat, has been transferred to DGP Headquarters in Lucknow. Ajay Kumar Singh (IPS:2009) is the new SP of Baghpat.

Punjab transfers 14 senior IPS officers with immediate effect

The Punjab government has given new responsibilities to 14 IPS officers and that will be applicable with the immediate effect. Three Additional Director General of Police (ADGPs) and eight Inspector General rank officers were among the officers who were transferred.

 

ADGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo (IPS:1993:PB), who is holding charge of women and child affairs, has been given an additional charge of Internal Vigilance Cell. ADGP Jitendra Jain (IPS:1993:PB) has been given additional charge of ADGP Police and Rules and SOG Training (Patiala), while ADGP B Chandra Sekhar (IPS:1994:PB) has been given additional charge of Special Task Force.

 

IG (PAP, Jalandhar) MF Farooqui (IPS:1994:PB) has been given additional charge of IG Anti-Riot police, while IG Naunihal Singh (IPS:1997:PB) (Jalandhar range) was posted as IG Ludhiana Range. IG Jaskaran Singh (IPS:1999:PB) (Ludhiana range) was posted as IG Bathinda range, and IG A K Mittal (IPS:2000:PB)was posted as IG Headquarters.

 

IG (STF) Kaustabh Sharma (IPS:2001:PB) was posted as IG Faridkot range while IG G S Sandhu was given the posting of IG Provisioning. Some other officers of the IG rank who were transferred included Pradeep Yadav (IPS:2004:PB), Surinder Kalia (IPS:2004:PB). DIG Ranbir Singh Khatra (IPS:2004:PB) was given the posting of DIG Jalandhar range.

The Madhya Pradesh government has transferred as many as 52 IPS officers in a major bureaucratic reshuffle. Of the IPS officers shifted, five officers are additional director general (ADG) rank while there are many IGP rank officers shifted from their present post.

ADG, police (SCRB) GP Singh is the ADG, police for anti-naxal operations posted at the police headquarters in Bhopal. Rajesh Chawla, ADG, Homeguard will replace him. Similarly, ADG, police (Administration) Kailash Makwana is now ADG, police (Narcotics). The incumbent officer on the post Ajay Kumar Sharma will replace him. G Janardhan, ADG, police, Jawaharlal Nehru Police Academy, Sagar will be the ADG, Shahdol range.

Major reshuffle in the police department in J&K

Union territory administration of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered postings and transfers of 60 police officers including 14 IPS officers. This included posting of Garib Dass (IPS:1997) as Inspector General of Police (IGP), police headquarters. This has been a major reshuffle after reorganisation of J&K.

Basant Kumar Rath (IPS:2000) has been posted as IGP Home Guard, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force. Amit Kumar (IPS:2006) has been posted as DIG (Armed) Jammu. SSP Shridhar Patil will be the new district chief of Jammu, replacing Tejinder Singh who was transferred and posted as AIG (Training and policy) police headquarters vice Sameer Rekhi.

Imtiaz Ismail Parray has been appointed as SSP Crime, Kashmir vice Javid Ahmad Koul who has been appointed as SSP, Traffic city, Srinagar. Mohammad Bhat, AIG, Tech, police headquarters, is transferred and posted as AIG (P&T), police headquarters vice Mubassir Latifi Ameer. He will continue to hold the charge of the post of AIG (Building), police headquarters, in addition to his own duties, till further orders.

Ajeet Singh, SSP zonal police headquarters Kashmir, was transferred and posted as SSP, CID cell, New Delhi, against an available post, the order said. Swarn Singh Kotwal was posted as SSP security Jammu vice Ashok Kumar Sharma.

Mukesh Agrawal (IPS:1989:AM) Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) has been transferred and posted as ADG of Police (CID) vice L R Bishnoi (IPS:1991:AM).

G P Singh (IPS:1991:AM)   back from Central Deputation is posted as ADG of Police (Law & Order) vice Mukesh Agrawal.

L R Bishnoi has been posted as ADG Police (TAP).
