SHIMLA (01.06.2026): The Himachal Pradesh government has entrusted K K Pant (IAS: 1993: HP) with the additional charge of Chief Secretary following the retirement of Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta (IAS: 1988: HP). Pant is currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue and Forest) and is the senior-most officer in the state cadre. 

The outgoing Chief Secretary, Sanjay Gupta retired on May 31, 2026. He had initially been appointed Acting Chief Secretary on October 1, 2025, and was regularised as Chief Secretary on May 26, just days before his retirement. The Department of Personnel had already forwarded a panel of five senior IAS officers to CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for the appointment of a regular Chief Secretary.
