j-manoj-dwivedi-may-feel-the-heatIndianmandarins has reliably learnt that many states are feeling the heat of shortage of IAS officers to run their own administration and exerting pressure on Centre to send their IAS officers back to the state. Reportedly, two states, J&K and Himachal Pradesh, have exhibited the intent for want of shortage of officers. For example, Union Commerce & Industry Minister recently approved the proposal of extension of services of Manoj Dwivedi (Jt Secretary, Commerce) but DoPT appears constrained to extend the central deputation tenure due to pressure from State Govt. Similarly, Himachal Pradesh Govt too has been requesting Centre for the same. It may be underlined that in September 2017 J&K Chief Secretary wrote to PMO stating shortage of officers and reiterated that the Centre should prematurely repatriate its officers (A K Mehta, Sudhanshu Panday, Atal Dulloo and Manoj Dwivedi) to the state. After this, CM J&K has been requesting for return of these officers to the state. However, Sudhanshu Pandey (JS, Commerce) may stay at Centre till his deputation tenure ends in mid August this year. Meanwhile, since he is empanelled as Additional Secretary in Govt of India he would continue to serve at Centre but for other officers it has now become too tough to continue at Centre.
