Keeping in view the mandate and job description, more than 70 % of the senior level management officers come from Civil Engineering stream thus making them natural claimant for the top job. This is what appears to go in favour of Prabhakar Singh. On seniority list, Ravindra Kumar Thathu (SDG, Mumbai), an architecture engineer, is senior among the six Special DGs.
Indianmandarins learnt that Thathu may be appointed DG (Planning) whereas Prabhakar Singh may be named as DG, CPWD.
