New Delhi (30.06.2024): The crucial meeting of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is scheduled to be held today. The board is expected to discuss the controversial issue of conflict of interest allegations against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch by Hindenburg Research and also by Congress party leaders.
This will be the maiden meeting for Deepti Gaur Mukherjee (IAS: 1993: MP), the newly appointed Union Secretary for Corporate Affairs and the last meeting of RBI's Deputy Governor M Rajeshwar Rao who retires this week.
On the conflict of interest allegations, Buch and SEBI issued statements refuting these allegations, but the board's opinion is awaited. The board consists of eight members including Buch, SEBI's four whole-time members and three part-time nominees from Finance Ministry, Corporate Affairs Ministry and the Reserve Bank of India.
