New Delhi (26.09.2024): The US short seller Hindenburg’s last month report that had put SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch in dock for conflict-of-interest allegations might cause her head rolling. In all likelihood, the SEBI chief may resign on October 6, 2024 and process for the appointment of the next SEBI chief may start very soon.
The Congress alleged that Dhaval Buch got Rs 4.78 crore from Mahindra between 2019-2021 when his wife Madhabi Buch was Sebi's full-time member between 2017-2021. However, Mahindra denied by saying that compensation was given only for Buch's supply chain expertise.
The name of former State Bank of India (SBI) Chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara is doing rounds as the next SEBI Chairman after incumbent SEBI quits. SEBI Chief was summoned to New Delhi on August 14, 2024 in the wake of the recent report by the “alleged conspirator” and US short seller Hindenburg. Reportedly, she visited crucial quarters at Raisina Hills to explain her case. Despite SEBI report clearly saying that Hindenburg benefited others from Adani group’s routs when it had published its first report, it is unlikely that Madhabi Puri would get any respite.
