Four union secretaries retiring today; OSDs set to take over

New Delhi (30.09.2024): With three union secretaries retiring today and OSDs already in place as successors would mark the day a seamless transition in respective departments while Ministry of Coal, Culture and Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) still awaiting new secretaries.
  1. Department of Health & Family Welfare: Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra (IAS: 1988: MH) will hand over the charge to Punya Salila Srivastava (IAS: 1993: AGMUT) on his superannuation today. Ms Srivastava is serving as OSD, Department of Health and Family Welfare since the third week of August. Prior to this she was Special Secretary, Prime Minister's Office.
  2. Ministry of New & Renewable Energy: On retirement today Union Secretary in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) Bhupinder Singh Bhalla (IAS: 1990: UT) will hand over the charge to Prashant Kumar Singh (IAS: 1993: MN) who has been in place as OSD since the third week of August. Prior to this P K Singh served as CEO, Government e-Marketplace Special Purpose Vehicle, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.  
  3. Cabinet Secretariat: The incumbent NACWC Chairperson Mukhmeet Singh Bhatia (IAS: 1990: JH) will also hang his boots today after handing over the charge to Sukriti Likhi (IAS: 1993: HY) as the new Chairperson, National Authority Chemical Weapons Convention (NCWAC) in the rank of Secretary to the Govt of India under Cabinet Secretariat. Sukriti Likhi is functioning as OSD under Bhatia since the third week of August. Prior to this she worked as an Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Steel.
  4. National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC): Senior IAS officer of MP Cadre Ashish Upadhyaya (IAS: 1989: MP) is also retiring today. A Neeraja (IFoS: 1990: UP) will succeed him as Secretary, National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Govt of India. Prior to this Neerja worked as Special Secretary, Department of Fertilizers.
