Bhopal (22.07.2026): After incumbent Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Anurag Jain (IAS: 1989: MP) being appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog, the state government on July 22, 2026 appointed Ashok Barnwal (IAS: 1991: MP) as the new Chief Secretary of the state.

Barnwal is currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Health and Medical Education Department and Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation. He will remain CS up to his superannuation i.e. in January 2027.
