Agartala (20.07.2026): Sending shockwaves through Tripura’s administrative and law enforcement circles, state Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar (IPS: 1994: TR) allegedly committed suicide in his office. While the immediate cause of his death in mysterious circumstances remains unclear, a high-level investigation is expected to be initiated shortly to determine the circumstances leading to senior IPS officer’s death. Dhankar assumed charge as the DGP of Tripura in May 2025.

Agartala (20.07.2026): Sending shockwaves through Tripura’s administrative and law enforcement circles, state Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar (IPS: 1994: TR) allegedly committed suicide in his office.
While the immediate cause of his death in mysterious circumstances remains unclear, a high-level investigation is expected to be initiated shortly to determine the circumstances leading to senior IPS officer’s death. Dhankar assumed charge as the DGP of Tripura in May 2025.
