IPS Trainee Accused of Harassment Attempts Suicide

Hyderabad (21.07.2026): An IPS probationer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) was hospitalized following a suspected suicide attempt after consuming poison at a friend’s residence on Sunday evening. The officer, currently under medical observation, is facing serious harassment allegations from a fellow trainee. He was suspended after allegations were levelled against him.

The incident follows a complaint filed by a female IPS probationer accusing him of stalking, assault, criminal intimidation, and secretly recording a private video without her consent. Hyderabad Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.

However, in a two-page note recovered after the suicide attempt, the IPS officer denied allegations and claimed that he and the complainant had been in a consensual romantic relationship since June 2025.

In the note, he alleged that the relationship continued physically and emotionally even after the woman got married. He further claimed that she had repeatedly visited his room and initiated intimate interactions.
