Former Karnataka DGP H T Sangliana, who once joined the BJP after retirement and was expelled from the party for voting against the party line in Lok Sabha on Indo-US nuke deal, had once suggested that the party could get the support of Christians by floating a parallel party called the Bharatiya Jesus Party. His old idea is now doing the rounds in the ruling party as it prepares itself to contest and win the Christian-dominated states of Nagaland and Mizoram. The argument in support of the new outfit is that it may help neutralize the propaganda of the ruling party's rivals who depict every instance of minority-related accidents as a reflection of the party's intolerance with the minorities.
