Chandigarh (25.11.2024): Over a month has passed since Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took oath of the office on October 17, 2014 but CMO still awaits the appointment of many key officials except for Rajesh Khullar (Retd IAS: 1988: HY), who was appointed as Chief Principal Secretary to the Haryana CM in a whirlwind of twists and turns. Earlier order of his appointment had given him the status of a Cabinet Minister in the state.
Normally the CMO is mandated to run the state administration that usually comprises of OSDs but over a month has gone by, no other appointment has been made so far. There is no general laxity as such in the decision making as swift decisions were made in the case of the appointment of Vivek Joshi (IAS: 1989: HY) as Chief Secretary.
But a proper functioning of the CMO is yet to be ensured by giving it a proper shape with a Principal Secretary to the CM, an OSD to the CM and a Secretary to the CM. Former Union secretary Vivek Joshi was repatriated to the home cadre already started working as Chief Secretary of Haryana but no other appointment has taken place so far.
