New Delhi/Gurugram (23.07.2026): Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has announced important decisions taken in its Board Meeting held on July 22, 2026. The company is preparing for stronger financial flexibility as it continues to expand India’s power transmission network.
According to the official filing made to the stock exchanges (NSE & BSE), the Board has approved two major proposals related to borrowing and also appointed new Cost Auditors.
Key Decisions Taken by POWERGRID Board
  1. Higher Borrowing Limit for FY 2026-27 The Board increased the borrowing limit from ₹30,000 Crore to ₹35,000 Crore for the current financial year 2026-27. The company can raise these funds through various sources including Domestic Bonds (secured/unsecured, taxable/tax-free).
  2. Borrowing Plan for FY 2027-28 The Board also approved a proposal to borrow up to ₹35,000 Crore during the next financial year 2027-28 through similar sources.
Both borrowing proposals will need final approval from shareholders in the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Appointment of Joint Cost Auditors The Board has appointed two reputed firms as Joint Cost Auditors for Financial Year 2026-27:
  • R M Bansal & Co., Kanpur
  • Chandra Wadhwa & Co., Delhi
Both firms have rich experience in the power sector and have previously conducted cost audits for POWERGRID.
