New Delhi (03.12.2025): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command is shifting its focus squarely on West Bengal, making it the next major target in its aggressive electoral map after securing significant wins in Assam and Odisha. The new internal mantra, according to party insiders, is "Ang (Assam), Kalinga (Odisha), and Banga (West Bengal)." With the first two 'accomplished,' the entire machinery is now being directed towards 'Banga'—the 2026 Assembly elections.
Indicating the gravity of the challenge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directly intervened, urging all Members of Parliament (MPs) from West Bengal to redouble their efforts to ensure a victory in the upcoming state polls.
Sources within the party hierarchy reveal that the Prime Minister's caution stemmed from an assessment of the BJP's performance in the last state election, where, despite a massive push, it failed to dislodge the Trinamool Congress (TMC). "If party insiders are to be believed, this caution came from the PM in view of some mistakes committed by the party leaders themselves in the last elections," a source confirmed.
Amit Shah Takes Direct Control
Underscoring the national priority placed on West Bengal, the next Assembly election campaign is set to be managed directly by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah's personal oversight signifies the high-stakes nature of the battle, where the BJP aims to conquer the last major eastern state that remains out of its control.
The adoption of the "Ang, Kalinga, Banga" slogan is seen as a formal articulation of the BJP’s pan-eastern electoral strategy. Following the successful consolidation of power in Assam and the breakthrough performance in Odisha (often referred to historically as Kalinga), West Bengal is now the final frontier.
The pressure is now squarely on the state unit and its MPs to translate the national leadership's renewed focus into on-the-ground electoral success over the next year.
