NEW DELHI (13.06.2026): The Supreme Court on June 12, 2026 urged D Roopa Moudgil (IPS: 2000: KN) and Rohini Sindhuri (IAS: 2009: KN) to resolve their dispute through mediation. The SC was hearing a petition filed by Sindhuri challenging the Karnataka High Court's decision to uphold a trial court order taking cognisance of a defamation case filed by Moudgil against Sindhuri.

The matter concerns a public spat between the two officers. Expressing concern over the prolonged feud, the Supreme Court cautioned that the ongoing litigation could damage both their careers.

Taking note of the nature of the dispute and the positions held by the parties, the SC appointed former Supreme Court judge, Justice Kurian Joseph as mediator to facilitate a possible settlement between them.

The dispute traces back to February 2023, when Sindhuri discovered that Moudgil had made several allegations against her in Facebook posts. In these posts, Moudgil allegedly accused Sindhuri of sharing her private pictures with fellow IAS officers.

The allegations subsequently triggered a highly publicised exchange between the two officers, eventually prompting the Karnataka government to transfer both officers.
