NEW DELHI (15.06.2026): In a swift course correction, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has modified its earlier deployment order for former CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta (IAS: 2012: AGMUT), posting him to Ladakh. The decision brings a significant sigh of relief to the officer, effectively altering the MHA’s June 3 order that had initially dispatched him to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The structural churn began on June 2, when the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) prematurely repatriated Gupta to his parent cadre (AGMUT) with an "extended cooling-off" period, following the fallout from the high-profile OSM row and NTA controversies. Immediately upon his return, the MHA had routed him to the remote Andaman & Nicobar Island territory.

However, after a closer review of the administrative circumstances, the MHA chose to revisit its original directive, reconsidering the arduous Andaman assignment in favor of a fresh posting in the strategic mountain region of blissful Ladakh.
