  • NEW DELHI (01.06.2026): The Supreme Court of India has appointed five new judges, recommended by the SC Collegium. The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, posted the announcement on X, stating that the appointment has now brought the Supreme Court closer to its newly expanded sanctioned strength of 38 judges.

    President of India Droupadi Murmu has given her ascent to these names. The names of the new judges are as follows:

    1. Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice, High Court of Punjab and Haryana
    2. Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, Chief Justice, High Court of Bombay
    3. Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief Justice, High Court of Madhya Pradesh
