Sailesh (IAS:1985:AM) has been appointed the new Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India vice C Chandramauli (IAS:1985:AM) under MHA. Chandramauli has completed his central deputation tenure and will hand over the charge to Sailesh in the evening tomorrow (January 08, 2016). He is expected to move back to his state cadre Tamil Nadu. Sailesh started his second tenure with Govt of India on April 01, 2014 as Jt Secretary, MHA, and was elevated as Additional Secretary on July 30 2015. Many in power corridors had sensed on January 01 that sooner or later Sailesh would be given some other position. On January 01 the charge of AS (UT) was abruptly taken away from him and was further assigned to M Gopal Reddy who already held many important charges like Police-I, IC, Coordination.
