New Delhi (17.01.2024): This is probably the first such case where two senior All India Services women officers from the different service (IAS & IPS) but of the same cadre have been at loggerheads from very long that too in public despite warning from the state government until the court intervened.
Now, the Supreme Court (SC) has given Rohini Sindhuri (IAS: 2009: KN) and D Roopa Moudgil (IPS: 2001: KN) one more opportunity to settle their differences and also barred them from making public statements on the case. The interim stay granted on December 15, 2023, on criminal defamation proceedings brought by Sindhuri against Roopa would continue.
The Supreme Court is hearing a special leave petition (SLP) filed by IPS Roopa against a criminal defamation case brought against her in Bengaluru by IAS Sindhuri. The SC had on December 14, 2023 asked Roopa to provide an undertaking on the deletion of the controversial posts or to express regret as a means for resolution of the matter. The IPS officer Roopa filed an affidavit on December 15 stating that she had taken down all posts referring to Sindhuri in deference to the views expressed by the Supreme Court bench.
