Making it as the biggest news in recent past Rajeev Mehrishi replaces L C Goyal (IAS:1979:KL) as new Home Secretary. He would take over the baton from L C Goyal by evening today. Mehrishi, the incumbent Secretary, DEA, was scheduled to superannuate today (31 August 2015). Goyal had requested the Government to approve his VRS. In the mid week of April this year Goyal was abruptly appointed as Home Secretary in place of Anil Goswami after his resignation followed by controversies well known to the power corridors. If some credible buzz is to be believed Goyal's VRS request had emanated from his anointment over Naga Peace Accord signed recently.
