New Delhi (14.09.2025): In a key administrative move, the New Delhi establishment has appointed retired bureaucrat Amit Khare (IAS: 1985: JH) as the new Secretary to the Vice-President of IndiaDr C P Radhakrishnan. The post holds the rank and pay of a Secretary to the Government of India.
Khare, who retired in September 2021 as Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, has been serving as an Adviser to the Prime Minister. During his tenure in the PMO he looked after the social sector. His new role as Secretary to the newly elected Vice-President will be on a contractual basis for a tenure of three years.
The appointment will be governed by the standard terms and conditions applicable to re-employed Central Government officers.
