New Delhi (18.08.2025): As Indianmandarins reported on 13.08.2025 in its detailed report on probable candidates for the post of Vice President of India in the wake of resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, the name of Maharashtra governorC P Radhakrishnan figured as one of the prominent names rather front runner for the post. In another follow up Indianmandarins reported that someone from the south India is most likely to be the candidate when Editor of RSS mouthpiece Organiser Sheshadri Chari’s name also started doing round. Both the leaders belong to Tamil Nadu.
The BJP's 11-member Parliamentary Board, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved Radhakrishnan's candidacy. The decision was shared with NDA partners like Nitish Kumar's JD(U) and N Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The NDA expressed the alliance's desire for a unanimous election and is reaching out to opposition leaders.
C P Radhakrishnan is a senior BJP leader and currently serves as the Governor of Maharashtra. Previously, he was the 10th Governor of Jharkhand from February 18, 2023. Radhakrishnan has been elected twice as a Member of Parliament from Coimbatore in 1998 and 1999.
