'Indianmandarins' has learnt that the search-cum-selection Committee has zeroed down on nine candidates who would be interviewed on December 21 for the post of NTPC CMD. The committee had met earlier on November 23 to screen applications. While three of the nine shortlisted candidates are internal NTPC candidates, six are serving bureaucrats and top corporate executives. In the latter category are Rajiv Sharma (CMD, REC), Praveer Sinha (MD & CEO of Tata Power's Delhi Distribution Co), Alok Tandon (IAS:1986:UP, JS Banking), Tarun Kapoor (IAS:1987:UP, JS New & Renewable Energy), Aman Singh (former IRS officer & Principal Secretary to Chhattisgarh CM Dr Raman Singh) and Gurdeep Singh (MD, GSECL) who started his career with NTPC.
