In a major bureaucratic reshuffle NaMo administration on Friday cleared the appointment of fifteen senior IAS officers to the post of Secretary in various ministries and departments including I&B, Commerce, Steel, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Revenue, I&B and Investment and Public Asset Management. In addition, eight IAS officers were also saw elevation from Additional Secretary rank to Special Secretary rank posts by way of temporary upgradation of posts held by them. Accordingly;
Amit Khare (IAS:1985:JH), presently in the Cadre, appointed Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting vice N K Sinha (IAS:1980:BH), retiring on May 31.
Anup Wadhawan (IAS:1985:UD) named as successor to the outgoing Union Commerce Secretary Mrs Rita Teotia (IAS:1981:GJ). Wadhawan will serve as OSD in Ministry of Commerce until Mrs Teotia's retirement on 31 July 2018. Currently Wadhawan serves as Special Secretary in Commerce Ministry.
Dr M M Kutty (IAS:1985:UT) named as successor to the outgoing Petroleum Secretary Kapil Dev Tripathi (IAS:1980:AM) retiring June this year. Currently Kutty serves as Special Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs. Till Tripathi's retirement Kutty will serve as OSD in the oil ministry.
Binoy Kumar (IAS:1983:TL) named as successor to the outgoing Steel Secretary Ms Aruna Sharma (IAS:1982:MP) retiring August this year. Binoy Kumar will continue to hold the additional charge of Special Secretary, Logistics, Department of Commerce until 31 July 2018.
Ms Rina Ray (IAS:1984:UT) appointed (in-situ) Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy vice Anil Swarup (IAS:1981:UP); the outgoing Secretary retiring this month. Currently Ms Ray serves as Special Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy.
Atanu Chakraborty (IAS:1985:GJ) appointed Secretary, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM). Currently he serves as Director General of Hydrocarbons.
Ms Pushpa Subramanyam (IAS:1985:TG) appointed OSD in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries vice J P Meena (IAS:1983:AM), the outgoing Secretary retiring on August 31, 2018. Currently she serves as Special Secretary in Ministry of Textiles.
Heera Lal Samariya (IAS:1985:TG) appointed (in-situ) Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment. Currently he serves as Additional Secretary in Ministry of Labour & Employment.
Deepak Khandekar (IAS:1985:MP), presently in the Cadre, appointed Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs vice Mrs Leena Nair (IAS:1982:TN) who will be retiring on June 30, 2018.
G C Murmu (IAS:1985:GJ) appointed Special Secretary, Department of Revenue by temporarily upgrading the post he holds. Currently he serves as Additional Secretary, Department of Revenue.
Sailesh (lAS:1985:AM) appointed Secretary, Department of Official Language. He will continue to hold the additional charge of his current post i.e. Registrar General of India.
Ms Nilam Sahwney (IAS:1984:AP) appointed Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment. Currently she serves as Secretary, Central Vigilance Commission.
