There is a belief in a section of officials that the government discriminates between IAS and IPS officers in repatriation, particularly involving those who couldn't get empanelled. Normally officers serving in Govt of India are post empanelment offered two options:  to continue at the center in the same rank or get repatriated to the cadre state. But these days those who are privy to the situation say that IAS officers are at least being given the choice but IPS officers are being repatriated without any choice given to remain at the Center.
