It has emerged that even as the bed-ridden hospitalized Deo was struggling with his paralysis, Director of Rajasthan Police Academy (ADG rank) Rajeev Dasot (IPS:1987:RJ) had written to the Home Dept to stop Deo's salary on the ground of his absence from duty. It is learnt that Deo didn't get his salary for the last 09 months. It was only after the J&K DIG (IPS:2000:J&K) wrote to Rajasthan DG Ajit Singh that Deo's dues were cleared 2 to 3 weeks before his death. Basant Kumar Rath's letter to his Rajasthan counterpart was triggered by social media accounts of Deo's deteriorating condition and how the crippled IPS officer was being driven to penury - to a point where he and his family, wife and an aged mother, did not have money to buy even an oxygen cylinder that he needed. The Doda Range DIG's letter, which reflects his strong feeling of camaraderie and brotherhood with fellow officers, offers a donation of Rs 50,000 to the Rajasthan Police to pay up the contingency cost of Deo's medical treatment. This couldn't but have put Ajit Singh to shame to order an immediate payment of Deo's dues. Rath's letter, in toto, is also an indictment of Deo's boss Rajeev Dasot. The J&K DIG's letter makes it clear that Dasot has not commended himself in the best tradition of IPS by inflicting pain on his hospitalized subordinate officer. The letter also makes it clear that, if the same thing had happened to Rath at his young age, his mother and wife wouldn't have ever pardoned the government and the IPS.
