Dehradun (11.05.2024): Chief Secretary of Delhi Naresh Kumar
(IAS: 1987: AGMUT) approached Uttarakhand High Court to stay his arrest in a
corruption case registered against him in Almora on April 11, 2024. The lawyer
of Delhi CS filed a petition on May 8, following which the HC registry office
asked the lawyer to file a fresh plea as it was a 'defective application'.
After the counsel furnishes more documents, the case will be put up for hearing
on May 22. Almora-based NGO, Pleasant Valley Foundation, had alleged
that Delhi CS and his subordinate YVVJ Rajasekhar (IAS: 2012: AGMUT) had sent
four men to the NGO-run school on Feb 14, and they forcibly took away files,
records, documents, and pen drives, which contained evidence of "Kumar and
Rajasekhar's involvement in a few scams". The NGO had filed two complaints
with the Central Vigilance Commission on Dec 11, 2023 and February 2, 2024
against Kumar and Rajasekhar for their alleged involvement in scams. Copies of
the complaints were also sent to the PMO and Union home minister. On March 2, the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate of
Almora had directed to file an FIR against the top bureaucrat and his associate
Rajasekhar.
