CBSE Chairman & Secretary Shifted over OSM Row; CBC Chairperson to Probe

1644NEW DELHI (02.06.2026): A high-level committee under Capacity Building Commission Chairperson (CBC) Radha S Chauhan (Retd. IAS: 1988: UP) has been constituted to probe On-Screen Marking (OSM) controversy. CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh (IAS:1996:BH) and CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta (IAS: 2012: AGMUT) have been transferred. The controversy is around OSM system, a digital evaluation platform used to grade approximately 10 million answer scripts for the 2026 Class 12 board examinations. Thousands of students reported receiving blurred scanned copies of their answer sheets, missing pages and even scripts belonging to other candidates. Allegations are against the Hyderabad-based vendor, Coempt EduTech which allegedly had a history of data processing failures (formerly as Globarena Technologies) and tender clauses regarding "blacklisting" were modified shortly before the contract was awarded. The government has constituted a one-member committee to investigate procurement of OSM services and the technical failures of the digital evaluation system to submit report in a month.
