New Delhi (11.08.2023): The Department of Revenue (Union Finance Ministry) on Thursday notified the allocation of responsibilities and Zonal charges among Members of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) as follows:
Nitin Gupta (IRS IT: 1986)- Chairman, CBDT
As Chairman of the Board he holds the responsibility of Coordination and overall supervision of Board's work. As has been the norm since Sushil Chandra’s term Chairman retains the key power of Member (Investigation).
Pragya Sahay Saksena (IRS IT: 1987)- Member (Legislation)
She will have the supervisory authority over TPL, FT&TR, Principal Chief Commissioner IT (International Taxation). She holds the Zonal charge of North Zone (Delhi, UP (East), UP (West)] and Uttarakhand and North Western Region (NWR).
Subashree Anantakrishnan (IRS IT: 1987)- Member (Audit & Judicial)
She gets the supervisory power over DGIT (L&R). She holds the Zonal charge of Central Zone that comprises Rajasthan, Gujarat, MP & Chhattisgarh.
Pravin Kumar (IRS IT: 1987)- Member (IT&R)
He gets the supervisory power over Principal Chief Commissioner IT (Exemption) which is considered one of the most powerful vertical after Income Tax Investigation. He holds the Zonal charge of Karnataka & Goa, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana
Harinder Bir Singh Gill (IRS IT: 1987)- Member, Tax Payers Service (TPS)
He gets the supervisory power over Principal Director General IT (Administration. & TPS) along with the Zonal charge of East Zone which comprises West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar and Jharkhand, Odisha and North Eastern Region (NER)
Sanjai Kumar Verma (IRS IT: 1988)- Member (Systems & FS)
In addition to the supervisory powers over DGSIT (Systems) and Faceless Schemes he has the Zonal charge of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Ravi Agrawal (IRS: 1988)- Member (Administration)
He gets the supervisory powers over Principal Director General IT (HRD), Principal DGIT (Training), DGIT (Vigilance). He has also been allocated with the Zonal charge of West Zone comprising Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur which is politically crucial region as always.
