With only five days left for the retirement of Karnataka DGP Rupak Kumar Dutta (IPS:1981:KN), speculations are rife whether the poll-bound state may have its first woman police chief or not. Dutta is scheduled to demit office on October 31 on superannuation.
Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that only three names are under consideration. They are Ms. Neelamani N Raju (IPS:1983:KN), HC Kishore Chandra (IPS:1984:KN) and M N Reddi (IPS:1984:KN). Of the three, Ms. Raju is seen to have a number of factors in her favor. By picking her, the Karnataka Govt may not only be seen as adhering to the SC guidelines but may also reap rich political dividends for giving the state its first female police chief.
