New Delhi (20.06.2023): Power corridor is abuzz that Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, the incumbent Chairman of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), may get extension after his retirement on August 31, 2023.
It may be underlined that PESB on May 16, 2023 announced that the selection board did not find anyone suitable to succeed Vaidya out of the 10 candidates that were interviewed. It recommended an appropriate course of action for selection including Search-cum-Selection-Committee (SCSC) or as deemed appropriate.
Sources say that the option of other means (SCSC or as deemed appropriate) implies that Vaidya may get extension for a period of one year or more. It is said that the appointment of former BPCL CMD Arun Kumar Singh as ONGC Chief in December last year has fuelled the speculation of Vaidya’s extension by the similar means.
