varanasi-bridge-collapse-mittal-replaced-by-srivastavaThe onus for Varanasi flyover collapse that claimed 18 lives on Tuesday has been put on Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation (UPSBC) Rajan Mittal who was on Thursday removed from his post. JK Srivastava, presently posted as Chief Engineer (Externally-aided projects) in PWD, has been appointed his successor. Reportedly, Rajan was removed on the findings of the probing high-level committee headed by Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Raj Pratap Singh. However, Mittal would reportedly continue as the MD of Rajkiya Nirman Nigam. Mittal has not been a stranger to controversies. Earlier, he was removed from the post of MD of UPSBC during the previous Samajwadi Party regime, when a portion of a bridge caved in on the Yamuna river in Fatehpur.
