The NaMo administration appointed Suresh Sethi as the first regular MD & CEO of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). Banks Board Bureau headed by Vinod Rai had recently selected Sethi for the top job who replaces A P Singh who was appointed as the interim MD & CEO of IPPB.
Until recently Sethi was served as CEO of Vodafone's mobile payment service (Vodafone M-Pesa Ltd). Between 2004 & 2011 he worked forYes Bank as Group President for transaction banking and financial institutions.
As of January 2017, IPPB was operational only with 8 access points which now aims at leveraging the unparalleled reach of the India Post network to achieve a Pan India roll out of 650 branches by early next year (2018).
