Delhi/Chandigarh/Thiruvananthapuram (04.11.2024): Is it carelessness or overwork that are causing officials to commit though silly but embarrassing mistakes that put not only the department but respective governments in dock. The most recent goof up was made when the Haryana government in its appointment order dated November 3, 2024 placed two DCs – Munish Sharma (IAS: 2014: HY) and Dr Jainder Singh Chillar (IAS: 2016: HY) -- for Charkhi Dadri.
Why to blame only state government, the Kerala government appointed Pranabjyoti Nath (IAS: 2005: KL) as Chief Electoral Officer while the Centre ordered his appointment as CVO of NALCO on the same day. Interestingly, Chandigarh Municipal Corporation CommissionerAnindita Mitra (IAS: 2007: PB), who had been given farewell in Chandigarh after her tenure ended, has been given a three months’ extension. The Centre’s decision came one month after she had returned to her parent cadre in Punjab. Term of ended on August 22, 2024.
Now, the silliest among them all when DoPT issued an order on October 30, 2024 but the date on the order copy was inadvertently typed as November 30 instead of October 30, 2024. These are orders in less than six months’ time. They can’t be avoided but certainly minimised.
Successive mistakes in government orders create a buzz
