Chandigarh (23.09.2024): In a first-of-its-kind decision Anindita Mitra (IAS: 2007: PB), who had been given farewell in Chandigarh after her tenure ended, has been given a three months’ extension. The decision came one month after she had returned to her parent cadre in Punjab. Mitra was Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Commissioner and her term ended on August 22, 2024.
Following her departure, the charge of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) commissioner was given to Chandigarh Deputy CommissionerVinay Pratap Singh (IAS: 2011: HY). Mitra had even joined her new posting in Punjab last Monday after coming back from leave and was waiting for a further clarification in the issue. In August itself, the Punjab government had sent a panel of three IAS officers – Amit Kumar, Ramvir, and Girish Dayalan – who were frontrunners for the post of MC Commissioner.
