S K Sinha (IPS:1983:BH) on Monday appointed to the post of Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat. He replaces A R K Kini (IPS:1981:BH) who will be retiring on 30 November 2017. Sinha currently serves as Special Director, Intelligence Bureau and will take charge from Kini on 30 November 2017.
Secretary (Security) is the administrative head of the Special Protection Group (SPG) and is responsible for closely monitoring the security arrangements for the Prime Minister, former Prime Ministers and members of their immediate families in India and abroad. In addition the Secretary (Security) looks after the work relating to preparation and review of Crisis Management Plan and National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), review and updating of Union War Book.
