If sources are to be believed, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy may soon pick a senior IAS officer as his Principal Secretary. Those in the know of affairs indicate that Rakesh Singh (IAS:1989:KN) and Mrs Shalini Rajneesh (IAS:1989:KN) are in the reckoning.
Currently, Rakesh Singh serves in the state as Principal Secretary, Water Resources, whereas Mrs Shalini Rajneesh serves as Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare.
Reportedly, Rakesh Singh has emerged as the first choice for the post. He brings with him a wide experience of administration at the Centre and State and is considered as the best option for a challenging assignment of PS to CM.
On the other hand, Mrs Shalini is also said to have emerged as a choice though it remains uncertain whether it would reach to a conclusion. During her tenure in the state as Principal Secretary, Dept of Personnel and Administrative Reforms she was instrumental in implementing Karnataka's Guarantee of Services to the Citizens Act, 2011, popularly known as SAKALA which earned several awards. Besides Karnataka, she has held various important positions in the central government.
