Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the NaMo administration may extend the term of Sushil Chandra (IRS IT:1980), Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes.
What has triggered this speculation is the fact that while the process of appointment for two posts of Members in CBDT is underway, there is no move to fill the vacancy that may arise if Chandra retires on May 31, 2018.
It may be recalled that Chandra was scheduled to retire on 31 May 2017 but 22 days ahead of his retirement, the NaMo administration re-appointed him as CBDT Chairman for a period ending 31 May 2018.
