He served as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and oversaw the 2026 Assembly elections. His appointment comes as the new administration under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari begins restructuring the state's top-tier bureaucracy in consultation with the Central Government. In addition, he held ex-officio responsibilities as Additional Chief Secretary in the Home and Hill Affairs Department.
